Messina Hof Winery and Resort, one of the fastest growing and award-winning wineries in Texas, recently announced its winning wines for the 9th consecutive year in the 2012 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo (HLSR) Wine Competition. The 9th annual Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo International Wine Competition was held on November 12-13, 2011 at Reliant Center. Wine entries included 2,454 wines from 736 wineries in Texas, across the United States and around the world. Medals were awarded by a panel of judges consisting of local and national wine experts. Messina Hof Winery received the most medals with a total of 20 overall awards, including Texas Class Champion Double Gold for Messina Hof’s Solera, Texas, 2004. For the 2011 wine competition, Messina Hof wines raised more than $100,000 in the HLSR Wine Auction. In the past nine years of participation, Messina Hof has won more than 100 awards and the wines have raised more than $400,000 for the HLSR.
