Michael Stewart, a long-term River Oaks resident, became a Houston success story. Now he’s well on his way to becoming a Napa Valley success story.
Mr. Stewart graduated from Rice University with a degree in electrical engineering. He founded Texas MicroSystems in 1975, and served in various capacities including President, COO, and CEO. He left Texas Micro inthe fall of 1999 after merging the company with Radisys Corp.
Mr. Stewart entered the wine business in 2000 with the purchase of a majority interest in Juliana Vineyards, a 3,400 acre property in the Pope Valley area of the Napa Valley. He and his wife Anne started Stewart Cellars. Their son James and daughter Caroline are now both actively involved in the management of the business.
Mr. Stewart and his wife Anne were in Houston this week with their son James to introduce their wines to wine lovers in Houston. We had an opportunity to try their signature Stewart Cellars Nomad cabernet sauvignon. One word: Outstanding. Their sauvignon blanc, chardonnay, and Russian River pinot noir wines were all high quality and well worth adding to your cellar. Spec’s is the exclusive seller of Stewart Cellars wines in Texas. If you want to support a former Houstonian’s venture into the wine industry, buy some Stewart Cellars wines.
