Wine Spectator announced its 2016 Grand Restaurant Awards, their highest award “given to restaurants that show an uncompromising, passionate devotion to the quality of their wine programs.”  One of the restaurants receiving the award was Jean-Georges, located in the Trump International Hotel – Central Park in New York.

The restaurant was lauded for its greatly improved wine list thanks to the work of Eric Hastings, Chief Sommelier and Beverage Director for Jean-Georges.  Houston wine aficionados may recognize Eric Hasting’s name.  He was the Beverage Director at Houston’s Mockingbird Bistro from 2008 to 2009 and the Beverage Manager at Houston’s Eddie V’s Prime Seafood from 2009 to 2012. Eric has an Advanced Sommelier Certificate from the Court of Master Sommeliers and was a finalist in the TopSomm competition.
