Warmer and longer summers in Germany have led to record harvests.  In fact, the warm summer of 2018 led to a 33% increase in the grape harvest in Germany.  German vineyards are beginning to plant Cabernet and Syrah grapes, varieties usually associated with warmer climates.  Read more about the 2018 German harvest and the future of winemaking in Germany in this New York Times article.
